A pair of vintage restrike engravings on paper of King Alfred the Great and King William the Conqueror, engraved by John Goldar (1729-1795), originally published in 1787 for Harrison’s Edition of Rapin’s History of England. Each portrait is printed in black and white, framed by a hand-painted red rectangle. In-plate text above and below each print names the historical figure and details the publishing information. The artist is printed in plate to the lower right of each image. These prints are presented under layered mats and glass, in black veneered wood composite frames with gold tone inner edges. Hanging wire is affixed to the versos.
