19th Century French Louis XVI Style Giltwood Fauteuils, Pair
DESCRIPTION
A magnificent pair of 19th-20th century Louis XVI style giltwood open armchairs of exceptional quality and scale. Each of the armchairs with elongated oval backs, carved frame banderole and knot moulding are beautifully designed with a top central bow knot that continues as the framework held up by large carved acanthus leaves. The armchairs, with padded armrests, display superbly carved floral front inserts below large acanthus leaves. Raised on four circular reeded legs. The curved frieze is decorated by a running wave beaded carving, accented at each corner with rosette blocks. Left in there original distressed patina revealing the age of the piece.
