Collector’s Edition Carlton House Writing Desk by Baker Furniture

Collector’s Edition Carlton House Writing Desk by Baker Furniture

This magnificent 1765 Carlton Desk from the Collector's Edition by Baker Furniture draws inspiration from classic 18th century European designs. Demi-lune form desk crafted in rare East Indian satinwood with a stepped superstructure having an intricately pierced brass gallery. With superb tulipwood banding and ebony inlays, it is fitted with the original inset tan colored, gold tooled leather writing surface. It has six small central drawers, flanked by two corner storage compartments, two side drawers which open inward, all flanked by two end drawers. In addition to this, there are three large fitted drawers below all with polished brass drawer pulls. Over a square tapered and fluted leg base raised on brass casters. This is also beautifully finished on the back, and looks great from all angles. All original, the finish is very well preserved. Signed by premier maker, "Collector Edition by Baker".

Measurements are 54" wide, 29" deep, 40" tall and the desktop is 29 1/2" high.

The Collector's Edition was built to capture that appreciation for superb design, a stylized mix of acquired, hand-chosen pieces, gathered to be passed from one generation to the next.
