Pair of Mid-Century Modern X-Form Stools / Benches, circa 1962

This refined pair of Mid-Century Modern benches or drinks tables were realized in the Unites States, circa 1960 by Drexel. Each bench has a rectangle shape to the top/seat that perfectly complements the elaborate shape of the superb "X" shaped supports on either side of the base, joined by a turned spindle also provide both a decorative focus as well as structural support. Notice the pinstripe designed to emphasize the lines. The contrast between the simple profile of the rectangle seat against the elaborate scroll work of the base creates an undeniable appeal. With their clean and modernist, yet classically inspired aesthetic, these benches are as versatile for use as side tables, foot stools or benches. They are striking, blending perfectly with any style of decor from classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. Mint restored condition.
