Literature: Il Design Italiano Degli Anni '50, Branzi, pg. 107An architect, furniture and industrial designer and editor, Gio Ponti was arguably the most influential figure in 20th century Italian Modernism. Ponti graduated in 1921 from the Milan Polytechnic. Named Artistic director of the Richard-Ginori porcelain manufactory in 1923. As an appointee of the executive committee of the Fifth Milan Triennale, he stressed the work of young Milaense avant-garde architects. In 1928 he founded the magazine Domus, which influenced interior decoration, serving as its editor until 1946.
